My name is Aleksanteri Karanka though people usually call me saska. I was born in 1991 in Tampere, Finland, where I’m still living to this day.
I've worked as a full-time designer for ~year. Before that I worked as a full-stack developer (ranging from WordPress to mobile app development) for ~five years. In 2022 I also became a certified Web Accessibility Specialist .
At the moment (January 2023) I'm happily employed at Vincit as a UI Designer / Accessibility Expert.
Smash Finland ry is an association with the goal of cultivating Finnish competitive Super Smash Bros. gaming community. As a part of the community I have volunteered to solve various design needs of the association along the years. Most recently the logo of the association, which was updated in 2020.
A need to update to the logo rose from the fact that the old wordmark style logo was a poor fit for small containers used as social media avatars. No other pressing issues were identified so it was desirable to keep any changes to a broader visual identity at minimum.
I crafted a burning game controller logomark — a fit concept with a tone of fierce competition — to complement the wordmark. The old wordmark along with the color scheme were kept mostly intact. The new logo is a versatile extension of the existing visual identity and can be utilised in a wide range of contexts, sizes and shapes.
