My name is Aleksanteri Karanka though people usually call me saska. I was born in 1991 in Tampere, Finland, where I’m still living to this day.
I've worked as a full-time designer for ~year. Before that I worked as a full-stack developer (ranging from WordPress to mobile app development) for ~five years. In 2022 I also became a certified Web Accessibility Specialist .
At the moment (January 2023) I'm happily employed at Vincit as a UI Designer / Accessibility Expert.
Team battle conductor is a web-based tool I conceived that is used to facilitate a certain kind of a fighting game set variant called a “team battle”. The tool handles randomization and keeps track of a few variables, letting players to focus on playing. This tool helps people squeeze a bit more fun of their favourite games by using this variant without too much hassle.
With this project I really wanted to create fun and exciting visuals. The actual tool has limited value as a pure function — the primary purpose of it is to bring some fun and excitement to its users. As with any tool, usability was another big concern, especially on mobile devices.
The tool has been battle-tested in my gaming group and it’s proven to be a success. For me, it’s the small details — like the animated sheen on the winner’s crown — that elevates it from a mere tool to an integral part of the whole gaming experience.
